Once you have located the supply lines and the way in which the pipes connect to the sinks and the cisterns, you would also require deciding the location of the shut off valves. Measure the length and the distance so that you can find the right supply tubes you need from a home store or a plumbing supply store near your house.
Installing Shut Off Valves The procedure for the installation of the shut off valves is quite simple and can even be done by you if you prefer. To begin the installation, you would require to switch off the primary water supply to you house. After you have done this you need to open the taps to allow the water in the pipes to drain out. Once this is done you would also need to remove the supply line for water that runs through the fixture into which the individual shut off valves have to be installed. You will find that the water supply line either uses screw connections or are soldered together. If these are soldered together then you would need to use pipe cutters. Using the pipe cutter, you would need to make incisions at two places- one about two inches to the side of the base and another at a distance of 6- 10 inches further down. Do ensure to smooth out the rough edges of the pipes by using emery cloth or sandpaper. Once you have finished this, you need to place compression nuts of the shut off valve on the end of the pipes containing the threads. After this, use the compound for plumbing joints on the pipe ends and push the shut off valve. Next you would need to slide down the compression ring and nut close to the valve and then tighten it. Once all the fittings are connected and tightened then you can restore the water supply. Check for any leaks. Once this is done your installation is complete. |
